Gemma has an ever increasing Children Act practice where she practices in both public and private law. Gemma regularly accepts instructions on behalf of parents, Guardians and Local Authorities. She has also represented children who are of the age and understanding to merit separate representation.
Gemma's experience in the criminal courts gives her a particular capacity to deal with family cases involving allegations of NAI, domestic violence or any matters where findings of fact are sought. She has a particular skill of working with clients where emotions are running high.
Gemma is developing her practice in ancillary relief, acting for both husbands and wives at both directions hearings and final hearings. She has experience in applications for MPS and applications to vary maintenance.
Gemma has advised in many areas of employment law. She acts for both Claimants and Respondents and has experience of representation in unfair dismissal (substantive and procedural), wrongful dismissal and discrimination claims. She has conducted a 9 day PHR on a complex multi-party TUPE issue.
Gemma is an experienced advocate in both prosecution and defence work. She accepts instructions in the Magistrates and Crown Courts including appeals on conviction and sentence. Gemma is particularly experienced in sexual offence cases and cases involving domestic violence where a sensitive approach is necessary.
