Ian specialises in family law and undertakes public and private Children Act work, often for the most difficult of clients. Ian has developed a substantial practice in care proceedings, representing numerous local authorities in Hampshire, Dorset and London. Ian also represents parents, children, family members and guardians in public law proceedings, including adoption. Ian has appeared in the Court of Appeal and High Court, and has experience of cases involving complex issues of jurisdiction.
Ian's ancillary relief practice is mostly privately funded, although Ian does accept legally aided work where appropriate. As well as representing divorcing parties in cases with six-figure assets, Ian has represented unmarried parties in financial matters under TOLATA and Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989.
Ian has considerable experience of serious Non-Molestation and Occupation injunction work, and transfer of tenancy applications.
Ian undertakes general civil litigation with a particular focus on Planning Law and matters of technology. As a former councillor, Ian brings his experience of the political side to planning to his practice. Ian accepts instructions from approved professional bodies under the Bar Council's Licensed Access scheme.
