Louise has extensive experience in representing all parties in public law proceedings, including adoption. She regularly becomes involved in cases concerning neglect, abuse (physical and sexual), and domestic violence. She also has experience of matters involving non-accidental injury. Louise has represented clients with mental health difficulties, both with and without the involvement of the Official Solicitor.
Louise specialises in Children Act matters, and is regularly involved in residence and contact disputes. She has a particular interest in cases involving children being removed from the jurisdiction, including Hague Convention cases. Louise also has experience in cases involving separate representation of children via a Rule 9.5 Guardian. Louise is particularly capable of dealing with clients who have difficulty in coping with proceedings whether due to mental health difficulties, or simply due to the stress of being involved in litigation.
In conjunction with her family practice, Louise also accepts instructions to act in injunction matters, primarily under the Family Law Act.
Louise has had an interest in licensing law since working in a local authority department, and this has developed into a specialist practice. She is happy to advise pre-proceedings and takes matters through all stages of the application, including representing at the original committee hearings. Louise has represented in relation to all types of premises from smaller public houses, hotels, and a large University Student Union.
Louise is regularly instructed to undertake detailed assessment hearings for all parties.
