Alis Simioniuc

During her time studying for her undergraduate degree in Law and International Relations at the University of Portsmouth, Alis volunteered as a Caseworker for the British Red Cross, Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service in Portsmouth as part of her work-based dissertation. Whilst there she helped clients with applications for asylum support, liaising with various Governmental and Non-Governmental Agencies on their behalf and forming case plans to assist them.

Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, Alis took a small break to go into the workforce and then proceeded to do her LLM in Corporate Governance and Law at the University of Portsmouth. During this time, she volunteered at a charity assisting with policy reviews and at the University’s General Legal Advice Clinic where she advised clients under the supervision of a solicitor on various issues relating to Family, Consumer, Debt and Employment Law and Housing.

After she successfully completed her LLM Alis joined College Chambers as a member of the clerking team, where she proceeded to stay for the next eight years. During this time, she decided to undertake the BPC on a part-time basis at the University of Law in London. At the same time, she also took the necessary steps to become a qualified Civil Mediator.

In her spare time, Alis enjoys reading, taking walks in nature with family and friends including yearly hiking and skiing visits to her native country of Romania, visiting museums and historical places, and has been known to practice more unusual sports like kendo and archery.
